Dr. Leithea Williams grew up in St. Andrew, Jamaica and attended Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls. She moved to the United States and in 1999 enlisted in the Air Force. In 2015, she retired after 16 years of military service, traveling around the world, and interacting with various cultures. During her Air Force career, she worked as a budget analyst, a financial manager, a senior leader advisor, an instructor, and a curriculum designer. While in the military Dr. Williams received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree; after retirement she completed a Doctorate in Public Administration and started her own company Emergent Life Skills and Education Consulting located in College Park, GA. She is a staunch supporter of mentoring and coaching for teens in foster care, the juvenile justice system, and marginalized young adults. Dr. Williams is the founder of the Empowerment Zone – a no-cost afterschool program for 12-17 year old students, she also serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the Business and Industrial Development Authority for the City of College Park.

Emergent Life Skills and Education Consulting focuses on enhancing the lives of teens and young adults, including those aging out of foster care, the neurodivergent population, and previous juvenile offenders. We use a structured strategy to address the unique needs of each demographic; keep reading for a partial introduction to our approach.

1. Tailored Coaching Programs:

  • Customized coaching programs designed specifically for each demographic (i.e., foster care alumni, neurodivergent individuals, previous juvenile offenders).
  • Age-appropriate content and coaching methods.
  • One-on-one and group coaching sessions to accommodate different learning styles and needs.

2. Life and Soft Skills Curriculum:

  • A comprehensive life and soft skills curriculum covering essential topics such as communication, financial literacy, time management, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence, etc.
  • An adapted curriculum that is specific to challenges and circumstances faced by each demographic.

3. Personal Development Workshops:

  • Workshops focusing on personal growth, self-esteem, resilience, and goal setting.
  • Encouraged active participation and interactive exercises to enhance learning.

4. Support Networks:

  • Coach facilitated peer support groups to create a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
  • Encouraged networking and the exchange of experiences among participants.

5. Emotional Well-being Support:

  • Encouragement to access counseling and mental health resources.
  • Stress management and coping strategies built into coaching plans for those dealing with trauma or emotional challenges.

6. Practical Training:

  • Job readiness training, including resume building, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.
  • Collaboration with local businesses to provide internships or job placement opportunities.
